Love the skin you're in.

"I refuse to spend another moment believing that I'm not worthy of a full life because I don't fit a bullsh*t patriarchal beauty ideal. I never deserved to be taught that my worth was held in how my body looks, and neither did the person reading this.” - Megan Jayne Crabbe

Until 2 months ago I was determined that losing weight would make me happy. I tried every shitty diet going - meal replacement shakes, teatoxs, slimming world. You name it, I have dabbled in it. As a friend, I'm the first one to encourage one of my gals, tell them they're fierce, tell them their skin is flawless, their outfit is perfection and their sense of humour makes me laugh so much my tummy aches... but to myself I'm a little harder. I strive for perfection... but I'm trying to change that to acceptance.

In reality, my body isn't so bad.

My BMI is healthy. My body fat percentage is almost athletic. I'm 5ft 7, naturally pale with jet black hair... but that's the issue isn't it? I'm focussing on the physical.

Body positivity isn't about your body shape. It's about recognising and accepting all body types. Not only does body positivity encompass self-love and appreciating your body whatever it may look like, but it encourages others to feel the same way about themselves too. So here's my first feminist, self love, body positive blog.
